Use Your Gifts
Were you born with a natural talent? Something or many things that you are good at, and they come easy for you? You were born with a gift, but to really take it to the next level, in which you are great takes a couple of things. Skill for one, and passion! Talent is about having both skill and passion.
We can be skilled at something, but without the necessary passion for it, our hearts may not be in it, and we won’t want to put in the time and effort practicing to truly become great at the thing we love to do.
I went into this coaching/consulting/mentoring business because I thought I was done with radio. I transferred by passion and skill of coaching reporters and anchors into a new business; helping successful people discover their next level of greatness. Turns out radio and audio production are still a big part of it. I’ve come to realize, when you have a gift and have spent decades perfecting it, it has value. Incredible value. Why would I turn my back on the thing that still lights me up to this day? I’ve learned people are willing to pay for my gift, because they see the value in the years of hard work, commitment, and experience that comes with it.
I am privileged to be consulting with nascent broadcasters who are working hard to hone their craft and take their careers to the next level. Experiencing a recent “ah ha” moment with a client who is fine tuning their on-air presentation was incredibly rewarding. Hosting a podcast series with some of the most influential leaders in the cyber security space not only allowed me to get back behind the microphone where I was meant to be, but also reignited my passion for continuous learning of all the new things. Why wouldn’t I diversify and include all the services that have value? It is all fun, rewarding and makes good business sense. These gifts just keep on giving. :)
Our passions are what become our talents.
